Adhesives

Industrial Adhesives for Polyester (PET)

General

Our Industrial Adhesives are special 1-K adhesives containing solvents for transparent polyester materials which were particulary developed for bonding amorphous PET films (APET and PETG).

Application fields

Bonding of transparent APET and PETG sheets on available machinery with bonding device:

  • foldable boxes
  • transparent lids
  • round containers, pipes

bonding of blown or other APET containers

Bonding properties

  • The bonding of APET materials gives highly transparent results without impairing the transparent characteristics of the plastic
  • high initial strength after only a few seconds
  • extremely high final strength (> 14.0 N/mm)
  • the final strength is reached after approx. 5 hours at room temperature
  • the adhesion is highly resistant against ageing.

Properties of the Adhesive

  • single component adhesives of low or medium viscosity, which bond on the basis of diffusion and reaction
  • Solvents: methylacetate, methylformate
  • the adhesive has a high yield (thickness of the adhesive film at nm-level)
  • the sheets don´t become brittle
  • contains no CFC`s
  • open time: depending on surrounding conditions and type of adhesive: approx. 20 sec to 2 min

To get the best surface characteristics such as minimal friction, good flow values, avoiding dust attraction by static loading etc. we recommend that films should be used which has been coated with our anti-static/anti blocking agents MECOSTAT®-3
