Product Information - Antistatic Additives
MECOSTAT-3 antistatic-additives are highly effective internal antistatic agents for the antistatic finishing and for improvement of the slipping properties of plastics, particulary of polyolefines.
These antistatic blends / masterbatches are preparations of fast working antistatic substances as well as of long term working substances, so that an antistatic effect can already be seen after a short time and has a long term effect.
They are mainly used in injection moulding and extrusion area of PP and PE. The products can also be used in transparent applications due to their neutral colour in the recommended addition level.
The resistance to temperature of the product guarantees that subsequent thermoforming can be performed without problems.
The activity of the antistatic finishing is directly related to the ambient humidity. To achieve the best results the relative humidity should not be below 40%. At high humidity the additional amount can be reduced.

Properties
- fast migration of the agent, antistatic effects already after a few hours
long term antistatic finishing for several years with reduction of the surface resistance as far as 1x10E9 Ohm under standard climate conditions
- temperature resistance guarantees unproblematic thermoforming without impairing the antistatic finishing
- the slipping properties of the plastic surfaces are improved considerably therefore improving the stackability of deep drawn parts

Food contact
MECOSTAT-3-Additives comply with the requirements of the German Requisites Act, with the appropriate EC-Directives and with the FDA standards on the antistatic finishing of plastics in food packaging, they are environment-friendly and easily biodegradable.
Processing
- The granules can be added directly during the extrusion or injection moulding process to the Polyolefins.
